Coming from Koh Sok I stayed a night in Krabi Town just to make transit a little easier because the next day I wanted to go to Koh Lanta, a mid sized island in the south west of Thailand.
Koh Lanta has a nice layed back mood to it. It is way more relaxing than Bangkok e.g. The streets do look a bit shabby and I don’t quite get the town in the south of Koh Lanta. It seems just one street with houses to the left and right.
Koh Lanta doesn’t shine during the day nor does the town, you would have to rent a scooter and explore the island that way to see the real beauty of Lanta. I know how to ride a motorbike but I saw many who don’t and had to visit a doctor for treatment due to scooter accidents. I just didn’t want to be one of them given the roads are basically dirt roads. I thought it might be a better idea to relax at the beach.
The hostel I stayed in, Blanco Hostel, was really nice and a very welcoming crowd. The staff was also very helpful and engaging. Rooms a little bungalows surrounding a nice garden. I liked it there and extended my stay one more day to make a snorkeling trip to near islands. More of that later in another post.
At night time this little town really comes to life. It is still a relaxed beach town but every bar has somethings to offer that make them inviting
During my stay, Lanta also held a festival that takes pace only once a year and lasts only 3 days. So I got lucky and got to see a performance from a fire dancer
I met lots of very nice people there and want to thank each and everyone who welcomed me so nicely. The travellers there made my stay at Blanco really special.
